Disrespect for the Commander-in-Chief

If FOX Network did not carry the Presidential speech on education directed to the children, and selected to show So You Think You Can Dance or some other extremely educational show as such, should FOX be allowed to dominate the Armed Forces Channels as they do? Given that the President is the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, this should not be acceptable and military personnel should be outraged at the level of disrespect FOX presented toward President Obama. If a soldier disrespected an officer, it would cause the soldier severe penalties or even their career. FOX should be treated accordingly. Freedom of speech is a wonderful thing but disrespect is never tolerated in the armed forces; why begin with FOX?

  1. I strongly agree with you. I believe President Obama is being subjected to disrespect from all venues, including Congressional Leaders. Do you think this President receives more criticism/disrespect than past Presidents or do we perceive he does because “we” have so much invested in his success?

  2. If you go back and look at the electoral map, you will find that the majority of states did not carry Obama for president. The key states with the most electoral votes carried Obama into office. Although many people felt that his election would help bring the country together, such divisiveness as that should by programs upheld on the FOX Network, continues to push the country backwards. As you travel around the world, you'll find that Latinos are classified simply as Latino, Germans as Germans, British as British, etc. But when you come to the U.S., we are classified by color for legal purposes, Black Americans, Latino, Native Americans, Asian Americans, White Americans and other. Why can't we all simply be called American? What you see happening with Obama is the same thing that happens in the classroom. If you are white, you have to proud yourself incompetent, but if you are a person of color, you must prove that you're not incompetent before trust is bestowed upon you to do the job you were hired to do. It's an issue of trust given verses trust earned and as you can tell, it is an uphill battle earning the trust of certain people, especially when their minds are made up the moment their eyes lay upon you. Given that many people did not vote for Obama for one simple reason, they are afraid of change, this includes blacks as well as whites. But the minority that are opposed to Obama because of his race are very vocal in society. This minority rules America; they determine what children can read in schools, restrict the shows you watch, the behavior and language usage on mainstream TV. But what can be done as long as Black America does not come together to channel their collective power for a respectable acceptance in society.
